It’s been a little while since I posted anything on the blog. The last 6 weeks or so have been crazy. So, here I am now with a little update on what’s been happening.

So many of you probably already know that our working visas have reached their expiration date. As of Monday, we had to leave the UK. It all feels bittersweet. James and I have had such fun while travelling and working and we’ve met some great people in the UK. However we are also very excited to head home and see our family and friends again, it’s been two years and there is a lot to catch up on.

With all that in mind, the last few weeks have been hectic, with catching up with friends and packing and organising and applying for future jobs. We’ve also been trying to see a few last things in London.

Enjoying the views in Germany

This weekend we started our last European adventure (for now), we have plans to do a little sightseeing, some hiking and lots of beer tasting. If you want to follow along, I’m trying to keep my Instagram Stories updated.

After that, we’re flying back to the homeland for a couple of weeks before making our next big move; to Melbourne, Australia. Another new city, new jobs and new people, a bit scary but we’ve done it before and I’m really excited. Wish us luck with that one!

What we’ve been up to

So I actually wrote a March Review post but never completed it, so this post will have a March and April review all in one.

COPENHAGEN

We were lucky enough to spend a long weekend in Denmark at the start of March and the first and only Scandinavian country for the foreseeable future. It was lovely. I really enjoyed Copenhagen and the Danish way of living. Everyone talks about the ‘hygge’ (pronounced hoo-gah) and fair enough, it’s so true. Hygge is the way of making everything comfortable, nice and cozy and that’s exactly how the city feels. There wasn’t an abundance of things to do in Copenhagen but it was just a nice place to be, very pretty, very cozy but also expensive. We combatted this by eating out for lunch and cooking dinners ourselves. We wandered the canals and harbour, we learnt about the Vikings and did a little window shopping. Denmark was lovely and I would like to go back in summertime to explore a little more when the weather is a little better.

CORNWALL

We spent 5 days in early April, road tripping around Cornwall. It was awesome. We hired a small camper car with a mattress in the back and headed off. After being faced with stone beach after stone beach throughout Europe we weren’t holding our breath for Cornwall. But we were pleasantly surprised, the beaches in Cornwall were amazing. White sand beaches for miles and due to the time of year, they were basically empty. The weather was still a little cool but the scenery was lovely and the countryside was rather peaceful… a great break from the city.

We spent our days driving around checking out the beaches and Cornish coastline. Naturally, we checked out the local pubs and famous Cornish Pasties. We were there in time for Ziggy Alberts concert at Perranporth, right on the beach. We had time to also check out the ruins of King Arthur’s castle.

CAMBRIDGE

We spent Easter Saturday in Cambridge, soaking the up the sights and the sun. It has a small city centre which is easy to walk around. It was insanely busy over Easter weekend which made it more fun for people watching, particularly those having their turn at punting down the river.

So, there’s a wee catch up on what we’ve been up to over the last couple of months. I’m writing this from a hostel in Prague. I hope to write some more in-depth blog posts about our recent trips in the future, but they’ll be in a few weeks/months time.

Catch ya later!
